Sunday in the French Quarter

Sunday offered us a little break from working as we had the chance this morning to worship with the believers at Berean Bible. Then, after lunch, we made our way to downtown NO to prayer walk through the French Quarter and Burbon St. Needless to say, it was an interesting time as we walked the streets and prayed for this city that's shrouded in darkness. We'll return there on thursday to do some street evangelism. Tonight we're grilling out and enjoying some hang time together. Thanks for remembering us in your prayers!

End to a Long Day

We've made it to Berean Bible church - our home base for the next week! We got a great tour of the affected areas in New Orleans including the 9th ward. It was a great start to our week as we learned of the suffering of the people here and also how the church has really been the only major agent of restoration in the city. Tomorow we get to minister to the homeless at a shelter in town. More tomorrow!

On the Road Again

Well, our hose problem turned out to be more inconvenient than first thought. Chase and I ended up staying in Oompa loompa ville last night to get the van to a mechanic this morning who had the time to fix it before lunch. Thankfully, we found Brandon and his dad, Chris. They were tremendously nice to us and had us up and running by 11am! Meanwhile, the rest of the group went on to Baton Rouge and this morning got to meet with Gov. Bobby Jindal! It was a great meeting and the students walked away from the capitol inspired (and also hopeful for the future of LA and, possibly, the US!). After lunch at Canes by LSU, we're making our way to New Orleans for a tour of the city and the 9th ward. Another update tonight.

Stranded in Oompa Loompa

We're actually in Opelousas, but Oompa loompa sounds way funnier. We are kind of stranded though. A radiator hose busted around 5pm and we're just about done fixing it and it's now just after 8 pm. It hasn't been bad at all, just inconvenient (and a great chance to get caught up on some reading!). Adam is getting to show off his mechanic prowess and is saving us some benjamins because he knows how to replace our hose. Tomorrow we get to hang with Gov. Jindall and then make our way down to New Orleans to do some home repairs for families there. More updates to come!

Let the Insanity Begin!

Date night tonight was our first trip to target to register for baby stuff & things. And let me just say from my ignorant, male, and limited perspective, "holy cow!" We walked into the baby section and my eyes got real big and Darcie says, "are you ready for this?" No, apparently not! I am in the wrong line of work because there is a FORTUNE to be made in baby stuff and things. My goodness. I have never felt so lost and ignorant in all my life. I'm glad Darcie knows what she is doing cause I'm just sitting here in target, typing this on my phone cause it's all I know to do!

She sure is having fun though. After this it's off to Andy's custard for a yummy treat for mom and baby girl. :)

Boy or Girl?!

Well, we finally got to have our sonogram yesterday and found out that we're having a little GIRL! We are both so very excited and, for whatever reason, it feels so much more real to the both of us now that we're having a child. She looks very healthy and is 21-weeks old! Darcie is feeling great (and she still looks great too, I might add).

We're taking advice on names for her right now. We had a boy name picked out really quickly, but didn't really have a girl name. Here are some that we like and if you have thoughts, we'd love some help!

Katherine
Madeline
Abigail
Bethany
Allison

Thanks for all of your love and prayers! More updates to come!

Snow in Tyler!?

Well, we had quite the wintery surprise this morning as we awoke to a thick wet snow covering the ground outside our house. It doesn't snow here much, so it's always a big deal and it always puts everyone in a good mood. Cinco even got his first taste of the white slush.

Of course it was all gone by afternoon, but that's Texas for ya. It's supposed to be 75 by Monday.
